Youth Forum

Resolven Youth Forum is a group of young people from Resolven and Clyne who want to help the area grow and develop.  They are aged from 11 years old to 14 and support the numerous events and activities that take place within the community.

Resolven Youth Forum has been running for many years and young people grow and move on to University or Work we have seen more young people wanting to take their place to continue the work of the Youth Forum.

Key Accomplishments

In 2020, members of the Youth Forum undertook a 10 mile sponsored walk to raise funds for Building Blocks Family Centre, to help purchase much needed equipment for children with disabilities who attend the Centre.

In 2015, Resolven Youth Forum were awarded a West Glamorgan High Sheriff Award for the volunteering they The Youth Forum attended the Street Games National Awards and won a National Doorstop Engagement Award for all the work they did to ensure that sports become a larger part of the community.

In 2015, Resolven Youth Forum were integral in helping the young people of Resolven get their very first skate park.  They worked with Resolven Community Council to find out what the community felt about the skate park, holding events, getting questionnaires filled in etc.  They were also part of the deisgn consultation.  In 20,  the skate park was finally opened to the community of Resolven.

Member Profiles

Below, are the profiles of some of the key members of Resolven Youth Forum. In one to one interview they revealed how and why they got involved with the group, and some fun facts about themselves!

Gwenllian

Gwenllian is 12 years old and has decided to volunteer with the Forum to help improve the village for the community and to help others. Gwenllian loves going out to play with her friends and has a number of hobbies from rugby, dance and netball. Gwenllian believe the best thing about volunteering is having fun and being able to see friends.

Bailey

Bailey is 12 years old and has decided to become part of the youth forum to help people in the community and to be with her friends. Bailey enjoys playing with friends and loves basketball, netball and dance. Bailey thinks the best thing about volunteering that she able to spend time with her friends and at the same time get to help people and it is something different to experience.

Cyran

Cyran is 12 years old and decided to volunteer with the Youth Forum to others and be part of a group of friends trying to make a difference. Cyran likes volunteering at Building Blocks Food Bank in his spare time and also, quad and bike riding. The best thing about volunteering with the youth forum is that you get to help people.

Ryan

Ryan is 13 years old and decided to volunteer with you forum just to be able to just to help people. Ryan is an ardent collector of cards, enjoying coding and gaming. Ryan thinks the best thing about volunteering with the youth forum is having fun and getting involved.

Maia

Maia is 12 years old and wanted to volunteer for the youth forum to help people in need. Maia enjoys going out to play, playing football and attending dance. Maia thinks the best thing about volunteering apart from helping others and the community is that they have an opportunity to get out of the house and spend time with others.
